What me worry?

Today's sermon topic at service here on the ship was anxiety. And honestly, I couldn't really get in to the topic. To use Southern Baptist terminology I was brought up on, the Lord wasn't "speaking to me". I think this is because my "baseline" has been reset too many times.

I think anxiety for me was something that I struggled with early on. But, I think because of all the "life events" I had, it showed me how high your anxiety level could be. There are lots of metaphors out there. For the Navy, we do hearing baselines to see if being around all the loud pumps and whatnot has negatively affected your hearing. I can imagine that after childbirth, it resets your pain baseline. Well, for me, my "anxiety baseline" is remarkably high. I have had many Sailors that ask how I always stay so calm and relaxed. I would argue it's due to being "blessed" with so many life events early on that allowed me to learn what real anxiety is.

Well, I think that it will go up in the future cause of these guys:

I have learned how to control anxiety of "the self". I think I'm still learning how to control anxiety "on behalf of others". Jack is getting in to soccer. Emma is in to ballet. I want them to enjoy themselves and be successful. The trick is, hopefully in that order of importance.

Sunday Funday

Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.

I remember that line from reading Dr. Seuss books to Jack and Emma. One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish; if I remember correctly.

Today was good.

I was able to award a Sailor with a Navy Achievement Medal.

Today was fun.

I got an awesome picture in my inbox of the cutest baby in the world with his gorgeous mother.

Tomorrow is another one.

Sweatpants

I have to admit, I was sceptical about coming to Turkey. I've never been here, and couldn't really find too much to do in the area that we're at, Antalya. But luckily, I booked an amazing resort and have had an incredibly relaxing time here:

It is a lavish, all-inclusive resort that doesn't skimp on anything. Fortunately, we're here during their off-season, so I don't have to take out a loan to pay for this mini-vacation. I must say, I've done a great job taking full advantage of the resort, getting a massage, lounging on the beach relaxing at the pool, sauna, ice room and bar.

But, I'll tell you, after Skype-ing with Amy and the kids, I'd trade it in a second to be in my living room with sweatpants on, getting tackled by those crazy kids.

Miss you guys.
