4th of July Weekend!

We really immersed ourselves in everything patriotic that New England has to offer this weekend, to celebrate the 4th of course! On Friday afternoon, we headed to Colt State Park in Bristol, RI.

We enjoyed a beautiful evening with a stroll through the park and we scoped out downtown Bristol to prepare for the parade this morning! Jack really enjoyed running the bike paths and looking out over the water from the fishing pier. We even saw a horseshoe crab!

On Saturday we headed up to Boston to walk the Freedom Trail. This is something we have been trying to do for months now, but the weather (or our schedules) just hasn't cooperated. I think it was fate trying to tell us something...this was the PERFECT weekend for theFreedom Trail. They had a lot of extra activities going on because of the holiday and we saw a small parade and a fife and drum corp. Jack and Emma started to get tired, so we didn't get to walk all 2.5 miles, but we did see a lot. The history up here is just amazing!

We took it easy on Sunday. Jack and I went to see Cars 2 - Jack's first trip to the movie theater! He was such a good boy and loved the movie - until the last 5 minutes when he asked to go home! Mater is our fav!

This morning we headed out bright and early to Bristol for their 226th 4th of July parade. Bristol's parade is the oldest 4th of July parade in the country! Along the parade route, the double yellow line is actually painted red, white and blue! The parade started at 10:30am and didn't end until well after 1pm. Jack had a blast and made it through the entire parade (and probably could have lasted hours longer). He loved the fire trucks, especially! He actually stood up and waved a flag for a good portion of the parade...he was super cute and a real hit with a lot of the people on the floats in the parade! Emma enjoyed the bands and did a lot of clapping and waving (waving is her new specialty).

So glad we lived in this part of the country for Independence Day weekend! We have had so much fun and we have been able to see so much history!
